2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee engine and drivetrain lineup

One engine comes standard for the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee lineup, while two others are available. Standard under the hood is the tried and true Pentastar 3.6L V6 engine that pushes out a competent 293 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. If you’re searching for more power than that, then take a look at the 5.7L HEMI V8 engine, offering 357 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. The last available powertrain for the Grand Cherokee is Jeep’s new plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) powertrain. The 4xe system is available for the Grand Cherokee Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, and Summit models and features a 2.0L turbocharged engine and two electric generators. One of the generators is at the front of the engine, in place of the traditional alternator. Meanwhile, the second generator is inside the transmission replacing the torque converter. This setup gives the Grand Cherokee 4xe models a whopping 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of instantaneous torque. Additionally, the 4xe powertrain allows for 440 miles of hybrid driving, 25 miles of total electric driving, and an impressive 56 MPG! All Grand Cherokee models feature the TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission that powers the rear wheels. However, Quadra-Trac I 4x4 is available for the Laredo, Altitude, and Summit models, offering excellent 4x4 capability. Quadra-Trac II is standard on all 4xe variants, while the Trailhawk comes with Quadra-Drive II with a rear electronic limited-slip differential for superior off-road handling.

In addition, the all-new Uconnect 5 infotainment software features advanced technologies like wireless Apple/Android smartphone integration, Amazon Alexa virtual assistant, navigation with voice activation and live traffic updates, dual Bluetooth device capabilities, and many more.
