What engines are there to choose from?

While Jeep offers a ton of engine options in the 2019 Grand Cherokee, most consumers will choose either the 3.6-liter V6 or 5.7-liter Hemi V8. The V6 has more than enough power for most people, although the V8 is better for those with bigger loads. A third choice is the 3.0-liter diesel V6 that offers more torque than V8 and maybe a better choice for those who want a vehicle that’s even more fuel efficient. The high-performance Grand Cherokee SRT uses a 6.4-liter V8 with 475 horsepower and can fire like it was shot out of a cannon going 60 mph in 4.8 seconds, while the Trackhawk boasts a 6.2-liter  V8 engine an engine, similar to that of the Charger, and it flies going 60 mph in 3.5 seconds or less. The V6 engines come with 2-(rear)-wheel drive (2WD) or optional 4-wheel drive (4WD), while the V8 models are 4WD. All Grand Cherokees use an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Grand Cherokee maintains Jeep’s impressive towing record, with the ability to tow 7,400 pounds.

What are notable features on the Grand Cherokee?

Depending on trim, the Grand Cherokee goes from a comfortable SUV to one capable of giving some top of the line models all they want. All models are 2-row/5-passenger configurations. This layout means that there will be enough room for passengers and a robust 36.3 cubic feet of cargo room behind the rear seats. When the rear seats are down that space expands to 68.3 cubic feet. Base Laredo models look impeccable with cloth and manually adjusted front seats, but going up just one trim keeps the power with the driver. Higher-end models step-up the features with leather and feature heated and ventilated front seats. As for the exterior, there are three new paint colors- – Slate Blue, Green Metallic and Sting Gray that give the Cherokee a more modern look. Jeep continues its excellence with off-road vehicles as the Grand Cherokee offers 8.6 inches of ground clearance, with the more performance-oriented SRT model sitting slightly lower (8.3 inches), and the best-in-class Trackhawk just a touch lower (8.1 inches). The Trackhawk also makes a statement with quad tailpipes. Also debuting this year is the Grand Cherokee Limited X which features a unique front and rear fascia, performance hood, Granite Crystal exterior accents and new 20-inch Low Gloss Granite Crystal wheels. Inside, a black interior with Heritage perforated seats and unique finishes is standard. It’s sure to be a cut above.

What are some of the safety features?

There are over 70 different safety features for the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. All Grand Cherokee models come standard with a Blind-spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path detection. In addition, the Quadra-Drive II, with a rear Electronic Limited Slip Differential (ELSD), is a marvel with its state of the art traction capability. The system automatically detects tire slip and smoothly distributes engine torque to tires with traction. In some cases, the vehicle will anticipate low traction and adjust in order to proactively limit or eliminate slip which is perfect for bad weather conditions.
