About Snyder, TX
The town of Snyder is located in Scurry County, Texas. Snyder also serves as the county seat of Scurry County. The name of the town comes from a buffalo hunter named William Henry Snyder. Snyder built a trading post in 1878 on Deep Creek drawing other hunters to the area creating a small settlement. The dwellings were mostly built with tree branches and buffalo hide, inspiring the town's first name "Hide Town". Fun fact: a portion of the country's second-largest wind farm, the Roscoe Wind Farm.
