2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L vs 2022 Ford Explorer
2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L vs Ford Explorer
With SUVs being the most popular vehicles on the market, it stands to reason that there are going to be quite a few options to choose from. Seeing as how our customers only deserve the best, we have taken two outstanding SUVs in the Grand Cherokee L and the Ford Explorer and compared their engine options and features so that you have a better idea of which one our experts think you should drive home. While we think that both of these SUVs would make a tremendous addition to your driveway, there is one that has a distinct advantage over the other. Continue reading down below for our comparison.
2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Power & Handling
There are two impressive engines available for the 2022 Grand Cherokee L, and they both come with an exceptional amount of power. The standard engine is a 3.6-liter V6 which pumps out an excellent 290 horsepower and 257 lb-ft of torque. On the Overland and the Summit trims, you get a more powerful 5.7-liter V8 that delivers an exceptional 357 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. Both of these engines pair with a smooth-sailing eight-speed automatic transmission. Four-wheel-drive is an available option on all trims outside of the Summit Reserve, where it comes standard. There is nowhere that the Grand Cherokee L can't go and nothing it can't do!
2022 Ford Explorer Power & Handling
The Ford Explorer tries to counter what the Grand Cherokee L offers with a couple of engine options in its own right. Most trims of the Explorer come standard with a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine which pairs with a ten-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel-drive comes standard, but you do have the option of all-wheel-drive if you need a little more traction. Higher trims, starting with the ST, have a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that gets you higher horsepower and torque. While we love both of these engines a lot, we think that the Jeep Grand Cherokee L is more capable!
2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Features & Design
On top of all the power the Grand Cherokee L possesses, you also get a ton of advanced features no matter what trim level you go with. The base trim is the Laredo, well-equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights/taillights, 10.25-inch digital driver information display, 8-way power-adjustable front seats, cloth upholstery, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and 3-zone automatic climate control. You also get quite a bit of tech, such as an infotainment system with s an 8.4-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, Amazon Alexa compatibility, and satellite radio. Higher trims add more performance and luxury features such as20-inch alloy wheels, rain-sensing wipers, remote start, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, automatic high beams, LED fog lights, leather seating surfaces, memory settings for the front seats, heated second-row seats, and an adaptive suspension. All versions of the Grand Cherokee L come with a wireless phone charger.
2022 Ford Explorer Features & Design
With the Ford Explorer, you get some exciting features, and it does its best to compete with what the Grand Cherokee L offers. On the base trim, you get items such as 18-inch alloy wheels, LED exterior lighting, powered tailgate, keyless entry/ignition, tri-zone automatic climate control, and cloth upholstery. The infotainment system isn't as prominent as the Explorer as the Grand Cherokee L as it's an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/Android smartphone integration, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. Higher trims have more luxury and performance items, including simulated leather upholstery, heated steering wheel, LED fog lights, remote start, entry keypad,self-dimming rearview mirror, and rain-sensing wipers. Wireless charging is also available but only at higher trim levels.
Conclusion:
While the Ford Explorer puts up a good fight, it can't compete with what the Grand Cherokee L offers in terms of power, tech, and luxury.
